Kodak Verite 55 not scanning from Ubuntu Mate 16.04

Hello all, I’m
running Ubuntu Mate 16.04 on a HP Pavillion laptop with a Kodak
Verite 55 attached. Downloaded and installed Linux Scan, PPD, and
printer utility drivers. I can print OK but when using XSANE
scanning software it does not detect the printer. Any ideas folks?

Hey everyone. I have an HP OfficeJet 8600A Premium multifunction printer. All in all it works great. But I am having trouble with scanning. With simplescan I can use the flatbed part but not the feeder. I tried gscan2pdf and it had trouble starting the scan. I tried VueScan which works perfectly and does exactly what I need for $79. I was wondering if their were any other suggestions before I bit the bullet and purchased it. Thanks

They list the following driver as being included:

Kodak i55 Driver See: (https://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/kodak.html).

As far as I know you can try it for free.
