Hi folks,
I’m running a Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (minimal server edition install) with XFCE as desktop environment on top … I added Xubuntu-Dev PPA to get at least latest XFCE builds for my system (I’ve chosen LTS for a long term stable base system; don’t want to update every half a year the release, but that doesn’t mean, not to install selectivly some newer software) … since Xubuntu’s LTS cycle is only 3 years instead of 5 years the support for 12.04 was abondoned … they simply killed the ppa, so when trying to fire an apt-get update I simply get error that no files were found … there are no XFCE build newer than 4.8 for precise available (don’t want to build on my own). ppa-purge and back to xfce 4.8 is my destiny
To cut a long story short: I’ve seen, that you provide MATE backports for 12.04 LTS over your ppa (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mate-dev/+archive/ubuntu/ppa) … will you provide (as a project / developers policy) “always” MATE desktop environment backports for ubuntu’s LTS versions ?
If you answer with yes … I’m happy to join as a new user … (IMHO it’s a good practise for projects to serve the official ubuntu LTS versions with backports).
(I’m full of hope 'cause of this: MATE updates for Precise and Trusty)
