I've upgraded to Mint 22.1 and there are a couple of things I'd like to change. One of them is that the 'hand' cursor for links is black. I would prefer if the cursor continued as white as all the other icons are, in my chosen theme.
I'm using the DMZ White pointer theme and none of the icons under that are a black hand.
I have Mint-X for controls, window border & icons. DMZ(White) for the pointers.
Any hints for where to look to make this change would b very gratefully received.

this forum is about ubuntu mate, not linux mint.
Maybe you can pick up a different theme that offers the mouse pointer as white.

Welcome! Nothing wrong with Mint MATE at all. Great way to get a stable desktop without some Canonical-specific (Ubuntu) pitfalls.
I've spent time with Ubuntu, Manjaro, and EndeavourOS with MATE - and I've hit issues with cursor themes occasionally too.
Sounds like a bug or fault with the cursor theme; you could try to adapt this guide to the MATE specific gsettings, the steps will be roughly the same: Customizing Cursors in GNOME | ZoFoss
Otherwise, try another theme (an initial list of packaged themes could be obtained with apt list *cursor*
).

Hi, @jkb101 and welcome to the Ubuntu MATE Community!
Yes, I like mint with mate, it has worked well for me for several years now.
Thanks for the suggestions. I did look for the relevant icon under /usr/share/icons/DMZ-White/cursors but I couldn't find it. I looked in other places and found similar 'hand' icons but none which matched exactly, so I was wondering where the icon was hidden.
However, nevermind
The best suggestion has been made twice now, namely to investigate a pointer theme I like best. I'll do that.
Thanks again.
