Problems with cursor

I have a problem with the cursor. Sometimes it does not move smoothly, sometimes it jumps to other locations, sometimes I click on the trackpad on the link and nothing happens (but that may be caused by the bad internet connection I am on at the moment). It seems to me there are also problems with scrolling in Firefox, sometimes the bar doesn't want to go, sometimes it goes another direction. It is hard to describe the problems with the cursor properly.

How to debug? Would it help to reinstall drivers or upgrade BIOS? I have Dell Latitude E6530 and they have upgrade for Win 8. What does it mean? How UMATE can run on the BIOS designed for Windows?

Hi
This is actually the behavior of the integrated trackpad or with a external mouse ?
You can play a bit with xinput :

Open a terminal and run : xinput

Next get the ID that match the device you want to test :

You can now do some tests using xinput test <yourDeviceID> :

Maybe you will not understand motions, but you will see if the device is sending events for clicks, scrolls and so on.
Tell us more about your issue, we will try to help you

I have a problem with both. With mouse I left click and nothing happens. xinput test shows no events.

Hi @Juandev
If xinput shows nothing, means, it is not gonna be processed by your computer.
Hard to say if it can be a missing driver so far, linux uses generic drivers and for the 99% (even apple devices) its fully working out of the box.
Probably it will be some hardware issues with your devices. Please give a try with a other device that the one you have issues.

SIDEBAR -- If you have a wireless mouse and it connects via a dongle, I find that (eventually, say maybe 6 or so months later) it will start behaving badly.

The fix? Unplug the dongle, plug it back in.

Well, I don't have a wireless mouse. It causes a touchpad.
