Remembering window size and location

Does anyone know how to have the windows remember the size and location of their last use?
Im running Ubuntu Mate 17.10
Window Manager is Marco (Compton GPU compositor) I cant use Compiz as i get screen tearing.

Some apps like Terminal will remember last position but not the size and most of the rest just open in the center of the screen.

Hi @rybena, This is a pet-peeve of mine. Unfortunately, compiz has generally been my solution for both size and position.

But terminal has a setting under Edit -> Profile Preferences that controls its size very nicely. It's right at the bottom. Here's what I use...
