Seagate Dashboard

Hi! I have an Seagate BUP slip backup drive. Is it possible to see the files in catalogues that are readable instead of opening the folders and only see cryptic text on the folders?

Hallo

Question
Are you using the backup software that comes with Ubuntu-Mate, “dejadup”, to make your backups?

see
https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/DejaDup/HowItWorks

If you want a non-encrypted backup you would have to use another tool (as well as dejadup perhaps?). I use Grsync.

Does that help?

hello alpinejohn,

I’m using Timeshift. I have it set to take a snapshot upon my first boot of the day, everyday.

All I want to do is back up just my Home folder, every once in awhile. Don’t know how often I should do this. I believe I have info overload, as I don’t know what to do now. It doesn’t take much to confuse me, I’m sorry to say…

I watched the video of Joe Collins explaining grsync. Looks easy till he goes on and on (rightfully so), and I get lost.

I am going to install grsync, after I get some more advise from these forums.

Thank You for your time…
