Slow shutdown process

I am having a problem with ubuntu mate 17.10 with the shutdown process. The process is slow because network manager and wpa supplicant seem to have a problem in shutting down or stopping.

Hi msmed50 it looks like there is an issue with 17.10, all flavours. I have the same issue, Ok well I had a lot of other issues with my 17.10 install on my acer laptop, but the only one left is the network manager and the slow shutdown. I read from askubuntu that a fix will be available in the next kernel update but I have not seen any workarounds yet.

If anyone has a workaround, please post.

Thanks

I should point out that “sudo poweroff -f” shuts down straight away and you don’t have to wait the 15 mins, “shutdown -h now” doesnt.

I had the same issue, it just stopped doing it after a day or so, I don’t think I changed anything. Shuts down or reboots in seconds. I have old hardware.

Same issue here.
Thanks for the command at least I don’t have to push the button long.
