Ubuntu MATE 16.04 system freezes totally

Hello, I’m newbie when it comes to Linux,but I’m delighted with MATE.

It all works fine,but I have a problem, suddenly after some time, whether its 30 minits or 2 hours, system freezes,nothing works. Neither ctrl alt delete, ctrl alt f2, ctrl alt backspace .

I have Asus laptop x551MA.

HI @Kosingas,

have you done a full system update?:

Hi @wolfman, yes I did …

Did you follow this advice when creating your bootable media?:

If you have a broken install, try running the following terminal command (Ctrl + Alt + t):

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install -f

Oh well,for making a bootable usb I was using “unetbootin” tool.

Anyway I will try with your second advice and will let you know if it’s resolved.
Thank you for your time and your effort :slight_smile:

Is your CPU overheating? In Welcome, in the Getting Started section, there is a System Information page. From there you can install psensor that will give your temperature readings.
