We regret that your meassage is difficult to understand ... due to lack of clarity for the details provided. Is this a request for help?
- If so, what specific problem are you trying to solve?
If this is a feedback about experience during install ...
-
Installs always go better if you check the site for reports on "hiccups" encountered during install. These can help you avoid an experience such as you encountered.
-
For feedback to be constructive, we need more fleshing out of the details as to the specific steps followed to perform an action, and what outcomes, error messages, behaviours were observed.
You assistance, by providing those additional and necessary details would be appreciated by the development team.

i just wanna to learn what is going on…
I'm sorry to say, but that response is again vague and difficult to address.
Pick one problem at a time, minimize the words required to describe the issue, then perform a search for already posted Topics of discussion, and examine those postings for any relevant details.
Start with two-word searches, and if that doesn't help, progress to three-word or four-word searches to see if you have relevant responses. Too many words and the relevance of the responses offered diminishes.
Then, again keeping the words to a minimum, search to home in on specific aspects of your problem. That should be you to some very relevant discussions and solutions to issues you encounter.
Hope that helps.
You can find free wallpapers on the Internet.
Here is one example.
I noticed this too, and wrote this on my review of Ubuntu MATE 25.10.
[EDITED BY THE AUTHOR] Link to my review Ubuntu MATE 25.10 - My First Thoughts
The answer is no. There was a 25.10 release!
Something to keep in mind is that, unlike mainline Ubuntu (with the GNOME desktop environment), some of the Ubuntu flavours have comparably very small development teams that (from my understanding) are mostly, if not all, volunteer-based (with, of course, the backing of Ubuntu). I run two such distros on each of my machines, one being Ubuntu MATE, and I love them for what they are. Also, there is the flexibility of changing what you don’t love, which is what I’ve done.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you (or your friend) seem like you’re trying to chase the dragon (i.e., perfection). I’ve been there, and perfection doesn’t exist anywhere; it took me a LONG time to learn that when I switched to Linux. My advice: Download Ubuntu MATE LTS (i.e., 24.04.3), note things you don’t like, then find alternatives by doing some web searches. If you gave it a hearty try and Ubuntu MATE doesn’t feel right, check out other Ubuntu flavours, and see what works for you.
I hope this helps. ![]()
Am I the only one that thinks that “wallpapers” are the least important part of a distribution?
I always change the background to a solid color green, easy peasy.
if you mean that the layout does not switch properly with mate tweak, then you can right click a panel and choose “reset panels” - it should switch then.
I agree on that (although I still mentioned it for the sake of thoroughness).
My background of choice is still the Ubuntu MATE dark (I think that’s what it’s called), but it was one of the original wallpapers from 15.04 or sometime around there. The starry night sky with northern light colours. I hope you know what I mean.
On a fresh install I always do sudo apt-get install ubuntu-mate-wallpaper-* to get them.

To us more experienced Linux Users ...
Wallpapers, however non-important we may deem them to be, Windows Émigrés would usually consider it part of the "switching the team loyalty" process, to seek out and
-
choose an Linux-/Ubuntu-related wallpaper, or
-
choose a completely new wallpaper, unrelated to anything they previously had,
in which case, they would like the Distro to make it easier for them to access those ... directly ... for selection from within their newly-adopted environment.
To the newbies, which we truly welcome "into the fold" ...
There are many sources. I do however strongly recommend that you consider the wallpaper used for the
- Desktop
to be different from the other two wallpapers that can be set for each of
- Login Screen, and
- Screensaver.
The one on the Desktop, in my view should be of a mostly uniform colour, so that the icons that are placed on the Desktop do stand out clearly from the background, to avoid the "search and find" issue on a very busy wallpaper background.
Again only my opinion, if you leave your computer on when you walk away, your Login Screen should be your "voice", putting your "best foot forward", how you want others to perceive you! Think ...
- serious?
- dedicated?
- whimsical?
- creative?
- playful?
- loyalties?
- congenial?
- part of team?
- specialization?
My own wallpaper for Login Screen is shared with the community in the following discussion:
My Desktop is the exact same blackish background ... but with no UbuntuMATE wordmark. ![]()
Lastly, if you choose to enable a Screensaver, the image(s) associated with that can again become a vehicle to show off your personality, preferences and tastes. Above all, those should be "in good taste", because you never know who may "sneak up on you" while your computer has gone idle!
